About our Doulas

Janice Banther, CCE, CD(DONA)
Janice Banther is the founder of For the Love of Birth, Inc.  and it’s predecessor, Women’s Health Center.  She has been involved with mothers and birthing since 1983. Janice is a certified childbirth educator with B.E.S.T (council of childbirth educators) and a Certified doula with DONA (Doulas of North America).  She is also a DONA approved doula trainer.  She has attended almost 400 births.   In 1999, she received the “OTHERS” award for the southeast of the United States from the Salvation Army for the work she does with women in a time of crises.  She has been featured in CHILD, a national magazine, many local newspapers and television news programs and was in the Vocational Biographies in 1999.  Janice was also named Palm Harbor Woman of the year by the GFWC Palm Harbor Junior Women’s Club in 2001.  She was also recognized for her contributions to Upper Pinellas County for Women’s History Month in March 2002.

Her greatest love is God.  Her greatest pride and joy is her husband Barry and her two sons, David and John. Her greatest desire is to help women have a positive birth experience that equips them to be nurturing and loving parents.
 

  Sydnie Arnold, LCCE, LBSS, CD, (DONA).
Sydnie started helping birthing women in 1981. She is a certified childbirth educator, breastfeeding support specialist with Lamaze, and a certified birth doula with Doulas of North America. She has helped many women in the Tampa Bay Area have a satisfying birth experience as their childbirth educator and birth doula over the past 17 years. Sydnie serves birthing women in the Tampa area. She and her husband mike have been married for 36 years. They have three sons: Trent, Tighe and Trey.
  Jane Harrold, CD(DONA)
Jane has been helping women give birth for the past 13 years.  She became certified with DONA in 2001.  She assists in childbirth classes.  Jane and her husband have had seven children – first four were without the help of a doula.  The last three were with a doula and were better births.  She has shared the excitement of birth and loss, which have both been life changing.
 
  Amy Trella, CD(DONA)
Amy has attended birth as a doula shortly after the birth of her son in 1999.  She received her certification from DONA in January 2001.  Amy provides childbirth classes, doula services, newborn care and breastfeeding support.  She is certified in adult and infant first aid and CPR.  Her philosophy of birth is that it is a natural event in a woman’s life.  Amy aims to provide women with a positive birthing experience through education and empowerment.  Amy is married to Randy and has 2 children.

 
  Michelle Gallagher, CD (DONA)
Michelle has been a doula for 6 years and became certified with DONA in January 2002.  She is a doula and a childbirth educator.  She also helps moms to preserve the memory of their pregnancy by making belly casts.  Michelle is married to P.J. and has one son.
 
Pam Napp, CD, (DONA).
Pam's interest in birth started with the birth of her first child 19 years ago.  She became certified as a LaLeche League Leader to help women be able to breastfeed.  Pam has taken the RTS Bereavement counseling program.  She became a certified birth doula with DONA in September 2002. Pam has two children.
 
  Sherry VanGelder
Sherry has served as a newborn-toddler childcare provider and as a postpartum doula.  She is currently working toward DONA postpartum doula certification.  She is married with 2 grown children.  Sherry's greatest delight is her grandchildren, Shea (2 years old) and Becca (1 year old).
